Chief Executive, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, The Built Environment

2007 was an incredibly busy and successful year for The Prince’s Regeneration Trust. We have built the team so that we have a much strengthened organisation with a broad range of skills in property and heritage. The Trust has expanded the scope of its commercial activities in order to support the growth of its charitable programmes and, in order to do so, it has established a trading company.

We have been working on a wide range of new projects including supporting the built environment element of the North Highlands Initiative. This exciting initiative, launched by The Prince of Wales in August 2005 has already made a major contribution to strengthening the economy in the North Highlands through the development of branded foods, trading under the ‘Mey Selections’ brand name, and tourism initiatives.

The Built Environment element will focus on bringing back to life some of the wonderful listed and vernacular buildings in the Caithness area, with an early focus on the village of Castletown where The Trust held a joint Enquiry by Design with The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment last year. 2008 promises to be another busy and successful year for The Trust.
