Chris Pope

Co-Director, The Prince’s Teaching Institute, Education

The Prince's Teaching Institute is not your typical organisation, as the majority of people who work for it have a different "day job". That's because this is a venture by teachers for teachers, and the majority of people working for it are enthusiastic teachers devoting their spare time to running events and programmes to help themselves and their peers.

However, running a national charity is not something that can just be done in people's spare time. These enthusiastic teachers need a full-time administrative centre to support their aspirations.

And this is why the organisation has two Co-Directors. Bernice McCabe is Headmistress of North London Collegiate School, has spent most of her career in the state school sector, and is the practising teacher who oversees the academic and educational aspects of all that we do. I, together with Patrick Wigg and Jane Fraser, look after the rest.

I really enjoy the variety that my role throws at me and get real pleasure from the fantastic response we get from teachers who attend our events.

But without doubt the most rewarding aspect of my work is the enthusiasm I encounter on a daily basis - from the total commitment of my full-time team, Jane and Patrick, to the dedication of the teachers who are determined to help their peers.

Please take a moment to have a look at our website http://www.princes-ti.org.uk to get the complete picture of what we do.
