Terry Mills
Chief Executive, PRIME Cymru, Opportunity & Enterprise
My name is Terry Mills. I am the Chief Executive of Prime Cymru. My background is in banking, business and politics. Catching the 5.52 train to London from Essex every morning did not seem like a sensible work life balance, so I returned to my native Pembrokeshire and opened a café, followed by a fish restaurant and training company. Whilst enjoyable and profitable, they were not necessarily mind stretching and I became a mature student in my mid thirties studying International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. An opportunity then arose for me to become a policy advisor at the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg.
I believe the most important thing about Prime Cymru is its clients. We work with people over 50 to help them return to employment, start a business or volunteer as a stepping stone towards economic activity. I do not want to move away from the people we work with so I have become a volunteer mentor myself. This enables me to continue to work with ‘real’ people, and there is no greater buzz than seeing people you have helped achieve their dreams.
