The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health
The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health encourages the development of a 'whole person' approach to health. This means recognising that good food, the built environment, meaningful work, strong communities and access to nature can help us to stay well. It also encourages patient choice during illness - allowing people to combine the best of conventional and complementary medicine with lifestyle interventions to achieve the best possible quality of life.
The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health works with people and organisations that shape health policy and practice. It emphasises the importance of prevention, early intervention and patient-centred care, and promotes the development of an equal and informed therapeutic relationship between patient and practitioner.
In 2005, the Foundation was awarded a three-year £900,000 grant by The Department of Health for its work in supporting the regulation of complementary therapies. This has recently led to the formation of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council - a body which will self-regulate many complementary therapies and make it easier for the public who use these approaches to find a trained and competent practitioner.
