The Prince of Wales’s Business and the Environment Programme

The Business and the Environment Programme (BEP) runs sustainability leadership seminars and alumni programmes for senior business leaders and their peers from government and civil society.

BEP is inspired by The Prince of Wales’s vision of a global business community which plays a positive role in securing a sustainable human future, whose leaders define themselves by the degree to which they make that contribution.

The need for this kind of leadership has been brought sharply into focus by the growing realisation in the last decade or so that ‘business as usual’ - in terms of the way we live in relation to the world’s ecological and social constraints – is not sustainable. A paradigm shift is called for, which will have significant implications for the business community, and in which it will need to play a key role. This calls for leadership that reflects a deeper understanding of the wider context in which business operates, clarity of vision for the pathways ahead, and an ability to design appropriate business strategies. It is BEP’s mission to provide senior executive seminars and an alumni programme which help leaders to develop this capability.
