Duchy Originals

Duchy Originals Limited was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1990 to promote organic food and farming and to help protect and sustain the countryside and wildlife.  The brand’s first product was the Oaten Biscuit made from wheat and oats grown organically at the Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove.

Today the brand still strongly reflects The Prince’s original commitment to creating a ‘virtuous circle’, whereby profits are generated for charity from a business that provides natural, high quality food and other products while helping to protect and sustain the environment.

All profits generated from the sale of Duchy Originals products are donated to The Prince’s Charities Foundation.

Duchy Originals works in partnership with over 30 British producers to produce a range that has grown to include over 300 products, all produced sustainably. All the products are made in the United Kingdom and, where possible, ingredients are sourced domestically, ranging from Scottish honey from Balmoral to Kent hops.

A number of our key ingredients are still sourced from the Duchy Home Farm. These include; wheat and oats for our biscuits, an old variety of barley called Plumage Archer for our ale, vegetables for our chutneys, mustard seed for handmade whole grain mustard and milk from the Ayrshire herd. Pork for our organic sausages, bacon and ham is sourced from a nearby estate in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

The brand has recently launched a range of Organic Vegetable and Herb Seeds which are certified by the Soil Association and feature traditional kitchen garden varieties, from carrots and courgettes to runner beans and radishes. Duchy Originals also offers a range of Organic Gifts and Hampers all year round.
